Can you see it?

Never thought I'd be so delighted to see a weed.

Box Springs

Today's project: Making these box springs look a little more attractive...

I used one curtain panel to make two side covers and two end covers for the exposed parts of the box spring. Since the box spring is wedged in so tight to the frame (and I was informed that there was NO WAY it was coming out - unless we moved again) - I stapled the fabric to the box spring frame and it hangs just above the bed frame.

Surprise Balls

I spent today working on these little "happies".
-Surprise balls
There are trinkets wrapped up in all of the crepe paper.

I'm probably going to nestle these in tissue paper and put them in Chinese takeout boxes - just to make them a little cuter. I think it'll be a blast watching the kids unwrap them.
This would make a great gift wrapping idea for a piece of jewelry - but wrapped in pretty ribbon.

My Painted House - Intermission

I took a break from painting and did a little organizing...I had attempted to work on this cabinet right after we moved in but was unsuccessful in making everything fit. I had to expand into another cabinet. I'm still tweaking it - but sooo excited to have a specific spot for everything. It's already proven to make grocery shopping more efficient. Yippee!
- Next on the agenda...more containers, baskets for the other cabinet and labels!

My Painted House - Dining Room

Here are the test strips on the previous paint color...
the top - Sherwin Williams: Blonde
middle - Sherwin Williams: Whole Wheat
bottom - Sherwin Williams: Believable Buff

The "true" color of the wall doesn't show up as well because I think I took this picture without flash.

I chose "Whole Wheat" for the room.

Whole lotta paintin' going on...

I spent two days painting the master bathroom. I started on the dining room and got a little volunteer help. Happy to report, the dining room is done and I have moved on to the kitchen!

Insomnia - Tales from the Crib

Last night, the eldest (fourth grader), got up after trying to sleep. Said she was having a hard time and needed to talk to me. - Just couldn't wait until I came in to "check" on her. She proceeded to tell me that she's been worried about something since before Christmas. - Then she decided she wasn't going to say anything. I convinced her that it was - OK - to tell me what was wrong. You can only imagine how my mind started reeling, curious and concerned that something bad could be keeping her awake these past few weeks.

And she starts..."Well, you know how we are supposed to get our papers signed at school? Before Christmas, I looked over and I saw in the trash can a bunch of signed papers, - a whole bunch of them. And it just bothers me so much..." She couldn't hold back anymore...

"They don't RECYCLE."
God bless her. - I'm going back to bed.

Working on the bedroom...

I'm going to re-use these shams I got from Pottery Barn years ago...

I got these lamps from Kmart! Lamp shades from Wal Mart.

I got this from Pier One. It will go over the piano.

The desk has a twin bed on each side. Curtain panels are from Pier One. I'm planning on painting the desk aqua blue. - Just haven't gained the courage to paint something just because I WANT to rather than doing it because I NEED to. I would REALLY like a clear Lucite chair to go with this desk.

To be continued...

Inspiration

I've been having a hard time getting motivated to finish GA's room (which will also be our guest room). Luckily, this weekend, I found this for inspiration...

I turned it into a little "wall art" for the connecting bathroom...

And I recovered this piano bench (which belongs in "said" bedroom)...

Next on the agenda...hanging curtains!
