Green Bean Bundles

I made a few batches of Green Bean Bundles for some gatherings this weekend.

Cut raw bacon slices in half.
Wrap them around a few cut green beans and secure with a tooth pick.
Then melt 3/4 stick of butter, add about 1/2 cup (more or less) of brown sugar.
Add salt, garlic powder and pepper to taste. Mix and pour on bundles.
Cook @ 375 degrees about 45 minutes or longer - depending on how you want them to look.
I take mine out and turn them over so that they get get nice and crispy brown on both sides. Sometimes I crank up the temp to speed it up.

Enjoy!

A girl can dream. - Right?

A little green.

A little color.

A little warmth.

Family Celebration

So you say it's your Birthday...

Back when we lived in Iowa, we liked to eat at a restaurant that had a dessert called the Big A$$ Ice cream. It was a pretty elaborate chunk of homemade Neapolitan ice cream with a cookie crust base topped with whipped cream, chocolate, nuts, strawberries, etc. and some tall skinny candles.

We've adopted the idea for our "family" birthday celebrations.
You know, when there aren't enough people to warrant buying and eating a big ol' cake. Here's my humble version...

Just be sure to buy the ice cream in the kind of box that has the ends that fold & tuck together.
I like to cut the ice cream diagonally so that it looks like a slice of cake.
Open the end and pry it out with a wide bladed knife.

DIG IN...

What a bargain!!!

So I made a little trip to Home Goods last week...and I found this!!!

It may or may not be "your thing" - but when you have a stairwell like this...

With picture frames that have been sitting like this (for over a year).
- Just waiting for some company.

It's a match made in decorator heaven for $15!!!!!

- Now getting them all hung is a whole other post.

It's a coping mechanism.
