Tree Swing

We finally hung our tree swing. For the inquiring minds that want to know how he got the rope on that limb...he tied some twine around a rock and tossed it over the limb. Then he tied the twine to his hanging rope and pulled it over the limb. - Had to use the ladder to make adjustments to the ropes that held the swing.

We should have hung this thing months ago! The girls pretty much spent the whole day swinging on it. Debating if we should get another one...

Fired - part 2

Here are the "before & afters" of my pottery class...

Mine have that "kick the can" look going for them. A little dented, uneven & warped.

The Peabody - Memphis, TN

We spent a few days in Memphis over Spring Break. The hubby and I stayed one night at the Peabody. This hotel was built in the mid 1920's.

The Peabody is known for it's tradition of having ducks in the hotel. Every day at 11:00am, the ducks make a grand entrance into the lobby. They are escorted from their home on the rooftop, down in the elevator, to the lobby. Then at 5:00pm, they return back up.

This house/structure is on the rooftop. I'm not sure what's inside. Could be just mechanical things.

Fired

I went to my pottery class this week...These are my "creations" after they've been fired once. I made these on a pottery wheel.


Next process...dipping them for some color.

After this piece is fired again, it will actually be blue.

My pieces will be all blue. These will be brown (nutmeg) on the inside and blue (emu) on the outside.

We added glass fragments to the bottom of our pots.

Can't wait to see how they turn out!!!

Weekend Recap

This past weekend, we took a little trip out to "the country".

The girls found a baby snake (it wasn't much bigger than a worm), road a four wheeler, a golf cart, kicked the soccer ball around and hung out with their extended family.

Which all worked out fine until they heard a distant bobcat in the middle of the night...then they moved to sleep in the Explorer.

Mama slept here. :-)
